NZ vs SL 1st Test result
Williamson had made his ground, and New Zealand had won by two wickets with no time to spare.

Former New Zealand Test skipper Kane Williamson scripted history on the fourth day of the ongoing 2nd Test between England and New Zealand as the 32-year-old smashed his career’s 26th hundred and also broke Ross Taylor’s record to become the leading run-scorer in Test cricket for New Zealand.

Before the match, Williamson was 2nd on the list with 7651 runs, but his 132-run knock in the 2nd innings helped him surpass Ross Taylor’s tally of 7683 runs, which the former cricketer amassed in 112 matches. Meanwhile, Kane, who now has 7787 runs, has achieved the feat in 20 fewer matches.

In 92 matches, Williamson has 7787 runs, which includes 26 hundreds and 33 fifties. He averages 53.33 and has brought Kiwis back into the match. Notably, England put 435 runs on the board in the first innings, and the hosts, in reply, tumbled for 209, which resulted in them batting again because of follow-on.

In the 2nd innings, the Black Caps turned things around and put 483 runs on the board, courtesy of the scintillating knock by Kane Williamson. After the end of play on day 4, England are 48/1 and require 210 runs to win in 79 overs to seal the series 2-0.
