Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana has lauded Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni for the latter’s contribution in his growth. The 20-year-old had a sensational Indian Premier League 2023 for CSK.
“As a young player, if someone gives you confidence, it takes your career to new heights. A player of that level had trust in my abilities and I believed I can do anything with the ball.” Pathirana said.
Speaking about his learnings from the former India cricketer, Pathirana said, “I learned many things from Dhoni. He is humble and that’s why he is successful. Dhoni is 42 and still the fittest cricketer. When I represented CSK, I was a kid and they taught me several things about the game.”
“Now, I know how to bowl well in a T20 game and how to balance my bowling. Dhoni told me if I can remain injury free, I can achieve a lot for CSK and Sri Lanka,” he added.
