“Rohit Sharma could have achieved 40-45 centuries already, but he doesn’t focus on reaching that milestone. He prioritizes the team over personal records,” Gambhir said on Star Sports.
Rohit Sharma’s exceptional performance in the ODI World Cup has been a highlight, scoring 398 runs in six games, including a century against Afghanistan. Despite not scoring big fifties or hundreds, Rohit’s aggressive style has provided flying starts for Team India, with a remarkable strike rate of 119.16 in the tournament.
Gambhir’s compliment, however, triggered speculation among fans, with some interpreting it as a subtle dig at Virat Kohli, who is second only to Sachin Tendulkar in terms of ODI centuries, with 48 to his name.
