Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians won the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League. After performing well in the league stage, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team completely outclassed Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets in the final.

Mumbai, who Meg Lanning invited to bowl first, didn’t allow any rival batter to settle down. Hayley Matthews and Issy Wong took three wickets each as DC were restricted to 131/9 in 20 overs.

Nat Sciver-Brunt scored an unbeaten 60 off 55 balls and stitched a crucial 72-run stand with captain Harmanpreet to lead MI to glory.

Delhi fans felt that Mumbai were gifted the title win by umpires. Explosive opener Shafali Verma was controversially given out.

She scored 11 off 4 balls before getting dismissed by Wong. She was caught by Amelia Kerr, but the height of the delivery was questionable.

The ball looked above the waist height, but the third umpire ruled in MI’s favor.

Both Shafali and Lanning argued with the umpires. Fans slammed the umpires and accused Mumbai Indians of cheating.

Lanning won the Orange Cap for finishing as the highest run-scorer in the league. Hayley Matthews won the Purple Cap for taking the highest number of wickets.
