Week 1: Paper Tower Activity |

The classroom was already familiar with the engineering design process so we did a quick review and got started on the activity right away. We had the kids pair up and pick a name for their architectural firm. Each pair had a limited amount of paper clips, paper, notecards, and scotch tape. If they decided that they did not need one item they could trade that item in for a different item. The kids caught onto the column idea (the goal of the activity) right away so they were able to make good use of their building time. We had one group whose tower held 15 books.
