| Week 7: Voting Booth |
|
To introduce some programming concepts we chose to do have the students make and program a voting booth using their RCXs. We had each student pair make up a yes/no question. We gave them the investigator program and went over what it did as a class. We then had students vote on the yes/no questions using their RCXs The students used the data they collected to make a bar graph and a pie chart. We discussed as a class the difference between these two type of graphs, and why graphs can be helpful for visualizing data. Overall, this activity went well, but took much longer than we had anticipated. We were lucky that we did not have many firmware troubles, since there was no building involved in this activity. The class had a substitute that day so it wasn't a problem that we took over an hour, but it would probably have been helpful if we had shortened our worksheet. |
