The first week we decided to introduce the students to the concept of programming by having them "program" us and the teachers as if we were robots. In doing this, they learned that they couldn't just tell a robot to "do the moonwalk" because robots aren't actually smart and they have to be told what to do in very tiny steps. We introduce the students to Mindstorms, and we ran through an example in which we programmed a car to move for 5 seconds. The students seemed to really grasp the concept of the program we put together in Mindstorms and how the robot "reacts" to those instructions. The teachers were very enthusiastic and eager to participate, but they let us primarily lead the activity.
