In the first lesson, we did the egg drop activity. We began by introducing ourselves and what kind of engineers we were and telling them what the activity was. The students were very excited when they heard "egg drop," because apparently many of them had done it before. After they had built their egg helmets, we had each group talk about their design in front of the class before testing it. Afterward, with the time left we discussed the different elements of their designs and tried to identify what worked and what didn't. We incorporated the idea of constraints in terms of resources and time as well. Overall, the activity was a good success and the class seemed to really enjoy it.
