Lesson 2: Build a Sturdy Car |
We started the class by briefly introducing the students to the NXT kits. We wanted to give them as much time to play with the kits as possible because many of them had not used NXTs before. We told them to build sturdy cars that we would subject to drop and shake tests. Each group had to first come up with a design concept for their car on a piece of paper before starting construction. Many of them, particularly those who were new to NXTs, had difficulty fabricating their designs. We handed out sheets with pictures of different ways to connect the motors, but they did not seem to help much. Next class we are going to have them follow the instruction manual for a basic car.
